Tonight is the final of our four-week series on issues of gender and sexuality, 5-7pm at St Albans. Presentation and soup and bread afterwards.\u00a0\u00a0The discussion is always amazing.
Tonight’s topic is abortion – Does the Bible actually say anything about it? If so – what? If not, why not? The words that were used in both Hebrew and Greek for the deliberate termination of\u00a0 fetal life don’t even appear in the Bible. And yet the practice was wide-spread.SO what do we understand?

Luke 17:5-10<\/strong>
The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!” The Lord replied, “If you had faith the sizes of a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.\u00a0

Who among you would say to your slave who has just come in from plowing or tending sheep in the field, ‘Come here at once and take your place at the table.’?

Would you not rather say to him, ‘Prepare supper for me, put on your apron and serve me while I eat and drink; later you can may eat and drink.’? Do you thank the slave for doing what was commanded?
So you also, when you have done all that you were ordered to do, say, ‘We are worthless slaves; we have done only what we ought to have done.'”

Why are these two stories paired in Luke?
