The parable about the unjust judge<\/strong>

Luke 18:1-8<\/strong>

Luke 18:1-8<\/strong> Jesus told the disciples a parable about their need to pray always and not to lose heart.\u00a0
He said, “In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor had respect for people. In that city there was a widow who kept coming to him and saying, ‘Grant me justice against my opponent.’ For awhile he refused; but later he said to himself. ‘Though I have no fear of God and no respect for people, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will grant her justice, so that she may not wear me out by continually coming. “
And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says.
And will not God grant justice to his chosen ones who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long in helping them? I tell you, he will quickly grant justice to them. And yet, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?

For reflection: Why do we call this the\u00a0“parable of the unjust judge?”\u00a0\u00a0Who is the main character here?<\/em>
Read it as a story – since that’s what it is – .What are you\u00a0<\/em>not\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>supposed to be focused on, do you think?Can you see any connection between this story and the OT reading from Genesis?<\/em>

Paula Shepard’s\u00a0<\/strong>husband\u00a0Joe<\/strong>\u00a0has COVID and is pretty sick with flu-like, and pneumonia-like symptoms and fever. We are not out of the woods. Do please be careful. Wear a mask in a crowded space. And please, if it has been more than 2 months since your last booster, get the new one. AND the flu shot if you are able to take it. Winter is coming and we will be indoors more – Let’s work to keep each other safe.

The large shed<\/strong>\u00a0– Anyone who would be available to help empty the large shed of miscellaneous “stuff” – please stay after church for a little while tomorrow. We don’t plan to repair it, and will get rid of it once the gardening tools are moved away or into the smaller shed.\u00a0
