As he and his disciples and a large crowd were leaving Jericho, Bartimaeus (which means the son of Timaeus), a blind beggar, was sitting by the roadside.  When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout out and say,&nbsp;<em>&#8220;Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!  &#8220;<\/em>Many sternly ordered him to be quiet, but he cried out even more loudly,<em>&nbsp;&#8220;Son of David, have mercy on me! &#8220;<\/em>Jesus stood still and said,&nbsp;<em>&#8220;Call him here  .&#8221;<\/em>And they called the blind man, saying to him,&nbsp;<em>&#8220;Take heart; get up, he is calling you.  &#8220;<\/em>So throwing off his cloak, he sprang up and came to Jesus. Then Jesus said to him,&nbsp;<em>&#8220;My teacher let me see again.&#8221;&nbsp;<\/em>Jesus said to him, &#8220;<em>Go; your faith has made you well.&#8221; <\/em>Immediately he regained his sight and followed him on the way.<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"273\" alt=\"\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/files.constantcontact.com\/cfd132e6001\/a0ced372-e0c2-4071-85dd-bb39a145776b.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"5\" height=\"10\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/imgssl.constantcontact.com\/letters\/images\/sys\/S.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"5\" height=\"5\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/imgssl.constantcontact.com\/letters\/images\/sys\/S.gif\"><strong>Some things to ponder before tomorrow<\/strong><br>Why might the man only be called by his relationship to his father?  What does it suggest that he calls Jesus, &#8220;Son of David?<br>Why does the crowd try to shut him up? Might there be more than one reason?  What drives him to ignore them?<br>Why do you suppose Jesus tells the crowd to call the man?  Why is he so ready to &#8220;throw off his cloak?&#8221; What if it gets trampled underfoot?<br>What &#8220;faith&#8221; has made him well?  Why doesn&#8217;t he &#8220;go&#8221; &#8211; but &#8220;followed Jesus on the way?&#8221;<br>If you were preaching tomorrow, what would you say?
