St Alban’s Episcopal Church Bolivar, Missouri Saturday-Sunday, January 8-9, 2022 Celebrating Epiphany – a few days late.More Birthdays Three Wise Men this week Ted Yarmouth on January 6, Stephen Grainger on January 7, Dan Rocha on January 8 There is as of now no prediction for ice, so we will have Eucharist on Sunday morning at 10:30 as usual, although it may be bitter cold. Bring your coffee if you want to! A few notes about church attendance from Mother Cathy I am happy when you are with us, because we all miss you when you aren’t, and because there is something good about worshipping in common, sharing lives and coffee and children.. . I do NOT think something is “wrong” with you on Sundays you choose to stay home. Everyone is weary these days. I do want to know if someone is ill – but only because I care about you. I understand that some of you come from churches where you were expected to show up all the time, and pressured to feel “bad” if you didn’t. This is not that sort of place. I will be there regardless. And I don’t care about numbers. Bishop’s Committee Meeting We will meet after Church THIS SUNDAY January 9. This is an important meeting because we need to sign a letter to the Diocese asking that Ryan Williams be made a Candidate for ordination. He will be taking the Diocesan Ordination Exams this June – This moves him closer to ordination first as a transitional deacon, and later to ordination as priest. If you are a member of the committee please be present. Upcoming this month Next Sunday, January 16, Paula Shepard will preach.Ryan Williams will preach on January 23. We are happy to encourage anyone who is considering ordination, or who wants to pursue a preaching license – to teach a class, to use the building for group meetings or dinners – or any other ministry opportunity. Whatever your gift – it is welcome here. |
