A bit of news the Sunday Collect

Karla Trammell Some of you know Bruce Trammell who sometimes attends St Alban’s. HIs wife, Karla, was an incredible artist in the community, whose paintings have hung in several galleries in Springfield and beyond. Karla died of an apparent heart attack on yesterday. Karla was a friend to many, and the loss to Bruce is great. Her service will be at Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar next Tuesday at 11:00 am.

Brenda Sickler If you were here in 2015 you remember our deacon, Brenda and her husband, Ken. They were very involved with St Albans and great friends to those who knew them Brenda is still active in Utah where she lives with her son and daughter in law. She says she goes to chair yoga and tai chi classes every week – and sends greetings to everyone. Brenda also reports that sometimes she doesn’t receive the newsletter – If that happens to you, do let Becca know. Constant Contact is weird sometimes and doesn’t always deliver the emails to everyone in a timely manner – or at all.

Alex Cohen Lori Cohen’s 18 yr old son, Alex is still in the hospital in Kansas City after a new diagnosis of MS. She reports that he is showing some slight improvement on high dose steroids. They won’t start the next therapies until after follow up neurology appointment next week. They hope he can be released from the hospital on Sunday.

The Collect for Sunday
O Lord, mercifully receive the prayers of your people who call upon you, and grant that they may know and understand what things they ought to do, and also may have grace and power faithfully to accomplish them; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God now and for ever. Amen

General Convention, held normally every three years, will begin tomorrow in Baltimore. It has been shortened, due to COVID so there is a lot to do in a few days. Our Bishop, Diane Bruce is there, along with the other bishops, and she is also secretary to the Convention, so she has a great deal of responsibility. Delegates from the Diocese of West Missouri, and from every diocese, are there as well to discuss, debate and vote on many different issues. Please pray for them all July 8-11. I will update as news becomes available.
