Your prayer matters
Psalm 107:1-9
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, and his mercy endures for ever.Let all those whom the Lord has redeemed proclaim that he redeemed them from the hand of the foe. He gathered them out of the lands; from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south. Some wandered in desert wastes; they found no way to a city where they might dwell. They were hungry and thirsty; their spirits languished within them. Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. He put their feet on a straight path to go to a city where they might dwell. Let them give thanks to the Lord for his mercy and the wonders he does for his children. For he satisfied the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things. Whoever is wise will ponder these things; and consider well the mercies of the Lord.

Prayers “of the people”
Every Sunday we ask you to pray for a whole variety of people’s concerns. Sometimes they are concerns for people you know – but often they are petitions that have been sent to us – people you don’t even know. God doesn’t always “fix” things in the way we want, but often God does answer in surprising ways. You prayed for these people – even if you thought it was simply routine – even if you didn’t pay much attention: But you did it. And it matters. It isn’t magic. But prayers does draw us together, and sometimes God does surprising things. Louise Ritter’s daughter expected to have a long series of chemo – but after the first treatment the tumor was already shrinking; doctors do not expect her to need far fewer than they originally intended. Thank you. We asked you to pray for my facebook friend’s 14 yr old grand daughter on a ventilator with COVID – She is home and recovering. Thank you. I asked you to pray for our General Convention – and then last week for a complicated issue at the Lambeth gathering of Bishops from around the world – about whether the Anglican Communion was going to be willing to accept our married Episcopal LGBTQ members and clergy, even though in some African provinces they feel they can’t do that – and already there has been a shift in the tone and in the substance of the global conversation. Thank You.Our friend, Dana Hacker, is out of ICU and seems to be slowly recovering. And she is grateful for your prayers, for peace and for the presence of God with her. Thank you. Lori Cohen’s son was diagnosed with MS – and it was scary for them; but he is home now – and the neurological symptoms have resolved. He isn’t cured, but he is well right now. For an 18 yr old, that is a huge gift as he begins his senior year. Thank you. Right now I want to add two new concerns for prayer  Lloyd Hensley will have surgery soon – and all of Julie Cook’s three girls have COVID right now. Thank you for praying. It is fellowship with those who are suffering that makes the difference – your love – thank you.
