St Alban’s Episcopal Church Bolivar, Missouri Thursday, April 7, 2022 Transitions:Lowell Korber, Bobby Cox, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson Lowell Korber Feb 7,1936 – April 7, 2022 It is with sadness that I tell you that Lowell died quietly in his bed during the night. Lowell and Jerri moved to Missouri and began attending St Alban’s in 2003. For all those years they, Deann, and later Debra, were strong and dependable members – engaged in activities like Share Your Christmas, bell-ringing, and everything else. After Jerri died, Lowell continued to come faithfully, even as he became frail and needed Debra to drive him. But he remained cheerful, optimistic, hopeful and interested until he moved recently to Lincoln to be near more family members. As soon as we have funeral service information, I will let you know; it will probably be in May, though. Here are a couple of photos. Please remember all four of his daughters and their families in your prayers – Bobby Cox Bobby turns 19 today. When Becca adopted him, he was just five, and not expected to live more than a few years. His older brother died in a foster family at about eight, of the same genetic disability. But he didn’t die. Becca and her children kept him going and happy! And you know Bobby as cheerful, despite being nonverbal, and unable to walk or respond to any speech. And he likes people, his food, and musical toys. For the last few weeks he has been in his permanent adult care home, and seems to be adapting well. We will have him with us on Sunday, though, to celebrate his birthday and will have cake for everybody along with our soup and homemade bread (hot cross buns.) And today in a historic vote, Judge (soon to be Justice) Ketanji Brown Jackson was confirmed in the Senate to become the next Supreme Court Justice. |
